TRENCHFLY / docs watch it live

A fly brain that smells memecoins

Trenchfly takes the measured wiring diagram of a fruit fly's central nervous system, the public MaleCNS v1.0 connectome, 165,122 neurons and 25.5 million connections, feeds Solana launch data into its real smell neurons, and reads its real decision neurons out as ape, hold or sell. It runs live. A fly sits on a battered laptop, its brain lights up in three dimensions as new tokens drift past, and a log says what it smelled.

One decision in slow motion: drive enters at the antennal lobes and spreads across ~1,500 real neurons to the descending outputs. The fly said SELL; the coin pumped. That clip was chosen on purpose.

Three words that appear on every page

Every claim here is labelled with one of three words, a habit borrowed from flyhard, which trained the same brain to steer a car.

  • Measured. The wiring. Which neuron connects to which, and how strongly, came from an electron microscope, not from us.
  • Engineered. What we built around it: which token feature goes to which smell neurons, the readout into three logits, the fly's body animation, the paper ledger.
  • Learned. The only trainable parts: one gain per connection and one leak per neuron, fitted to what tokens did in the hour after we saw them.

What it is not

The fly does not have an edge because it is a fly. On our own held-out data it loses to a logistic regression on the same features (Results). Every trading number on the live page is paper. The show is the product; the honesty is the brand.

Where to go

  • The brain, what the connectome is, and which 32,498 neurons we use.
  • The nose, the 42 odorants and how a token becomes a smell.
  • The show, what the colours mean, and which parts of the fly are a puppet.
  • The swarm, eight flies, one master wallet, the paper ledger.
  • Results, the tables, including the ones where we lose.
  • Receipts, how to check the neurons are real.
  • Lore, why a fly, and why it can smell from miles away.
  • Run it yourself, Mac and Linux setup.
  • Attribution, what we borrowed and what we owe.
